Echo 2 stroke hidden carb adjustment

Purchased a PB-265LN backpack blower from a dude on FB sell page for $50. Pull started it to make sure it had compression before buying it and it did so instead of just repairing the carb on the unit i just bought a brand new ZAMA carb on Amazon for $12 LINK
While waiting on new carb to arrive i decided to take apart old carb to see if i could get it running.Took carb apart, cleaned all passages, replaced all fuel lines and fuel filter and damn thing still wouldn't crank and stay running.
New carb comes in, install and still won't stay running unless i hold my hand over the intake(makes the motor draw in more fuel)
. I'm baffled at this point. I pull off the muffler to inspect for carbon buildup. I see none but decide to warm the propane grill to 600 degrees and cook it for 25 minutes anyway. Reinstall muffler with spark arrestor removed and the damn thing still won't stay running on its own.
I finally run across a guy who mentions a "hidden mixture screw" on google. The factor carb had a plastic plug that needs to be drilled out to access the small flathead screw but the new carb didn't have the plug.
Anyway, many Echo trimmers also have this same carb and once the small plastic plug is removed, high jet tuning can now be performed as easily as inserting a small flathead screwdriver without removing anything.
Figured this post may help Echo owners out for future issues with their blowers or trimmers.

I've got an Echo weedeater that will only stay running if I hold the throttle down all the way... as soon as I let off a little it dies. Think this could have something to do with it?

I feel like this entire post is some sort of Illuminati code.

Great info. and thanks. I have echo weed eater and blower and work on my own stuff and never knew this. Will make trouble shooting much easier.

will it run ok with the air filter off? If not then there is a mixture issue going on with the carb and tightening that hidden screw about 1/8th of a turn would probably get it acting right again

Random metal lawn-care parts board?

Nope.

I'm gonna try it. Not like I can frick it up any more than it is right now. I'll try the screw. I've been using a battery powered trimmer and that shite just pisses me off.

Although I might just double check that carb you posted will fit my weedeater... if it does I'll probably just replace the thing. I know I need to replace the fuel lines.

New primer bulb
That's the main thing. My Echo started acting up last summer and it's been sitting outside (covered) ever since. I'm sure most of the rubber stuff like the primer bulb and fuel hoses need replacing by now.
And like you said... for $12 frick it.

Sooo, flux capacitor. Amirite?
Thanks though I'm actually repairing an old echo trimmer and echo edger and will keep this in mind.

i keep that yellow 2 stroke fuel line in my shed. You can pick it up by the roll at your closest hardware store or Home depot or order that on amazon as well.
