re: Expecting first kid soon. Need advice on top quality baby items

I saw someone mention buying breast pump. An alternate to buying is renting. It sounds gross but you replace consumables. That way you are using the best pumps money can buy but only paying small monthly fee. I dont remember the cost at Women's.

This is a very detailed list my wife received before we had our first child. Obviously we didn't buy all this stuff but it's a pretty good list of top quality items...good luck and congrats!

Video monitor – Summer Video/Audio monitor

If you don’t have a fan in the nursery buy a small fan (air circulation helps reduce SIDS)
Fisher-Price Baby Papasan Infant Seat (w/ vibrations) – use while smaller
Fisher-Price Bouncy Seat (w/ vibrations) – use a bit larger
Fisher-Price My Little Lamb Papasan Cradle Swing (a must have!)

Infant Carrier Car Base (2 – one for each car)

8-10 Burp Cloths (you can use Gerber Birdseye cloth diapers)

Baby Bath Tub (one with a sling or use a sponge when they are small; make sure it supports their head)

3-4 Footie PJ’s (maybe a couple NB and a couple 3mo.’s in case baby is long)
4-5 Gowns (easier than footies when changing late at night)

Travel Wipes Holder or small disposable packages of wipes
Cooler Bag (for bottles; usually get from hospital in gift bags)

Buy generic (Walmart/Wallgreens) brand diapers and wipes. They absorb and work just as well mostly.

But if you just Have to buy the name brand diapers use them at night and the generics during the day since you'll be keeping a closer eye on that sagging diaper issue.

Generic wipes are better imo, they are more wet and clean better.

My advice, don’t spend a lot on all this shite. Buy whatever is cheapest that is also safe and functional. The women in your life will want to break the bank on it, it’s a total waste to get the super expensive shite.
