Take it off.

You are FAR less likely to be pulled over without an inspection sticker than with one. Many states do not have inspection stickers and a PD would have to see that you have a Louisiana License plate AND an expired sticker. If you have an expired sticker he knows you are a LA resident and have an expired sticker.

I follow you now... Catman88 hit the nail on the head. In states like Texas and California, you can not remove it because of the front plate requirement will tell on you every time. Not so in Louisiana.

I don't have one and from what I can tell, I'm less likely to get pulled over than a guy with an expired sticker.

There is a citation for no inspection sticker and there is one for an expired inspection sticker. I have no idea how much the fines are.

That is totally false. Traffic cops generally look for vehicles with no inspection sticker and when they see them they look at the license plate. Inspection stickers also are different colors so it is rather obvious when one is expired if it is more thn a year old.

Someone will give you a sticker with that. You may get rejected a few times before you find someone to give you one.

Just don't let them put a failed orange sticker on there. Tell them you don't want that and aren't paying for it. Go to next shop down the road. Repeat until someone gives you one.

I will say your statement is false. I went through no less than 3 inspection checkpoints with no sticker over 4 years and a Louisiana plate about 6 years ago when I was younger and just didn't care. I even went through another one on the Livingston onramp where they were setting up a checkpoint and they noticed I had a Louisiana plate after I drove by. They initially flagged me to stop and I did half way down the onramp and then they waived me to go ahead. Never got a ticket once. Would the same be said had my sticker been expired over a year? Obviously not.

What you are asking to do is for a cop to see the missing sticker and then check in his rearview mirror after you pass to check your plate. OR to check your plate and somehow make another effort to check your sticker.

While they may look. Cops are very lazy and wont bother on the whole.

Do you believe this to be difficult? It is far easier to miss an inspection sticker color thn it is to miss a car with no inspection sticker at all. Those very well could have been DWI checkpoints you rolled through. I know, if it were me, and I had to choose to drive either with no sticker or with an expired sticker I would leave the expired sticker on the car.

I've rolled through several Inspection Sticker checkpoints with no sticker and was not stopped. I think cops become accustom to looking for the wrong color sticker and miss no sticker altogether.

Do as you wish. I am only telling you what I happen to KNOW many cops look for. I have no interest in writing expired inspection sticker tickets but it appears, from what I have read here, that they are common place in Baton Rouge.

Could have been license, or escaped prisoner, or warrant check points.
