Was she Mexican?
Side note: Canned evaporated milk isn't refrigerated.
Did you pick up some gas station sushi while you were there?
Here's your answer..

Despite its unique processing method, Fairlife milk still needs to be refrigerated just like regular cow’s milk. This is because it is still a perishable product that can go bad if left out at room temperature for too long.

Fair life lasts longer without spoiling than regular milk. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing though

The milk is ultrapasteurized. All throughout Europe the milk is stocked on a shelf next to all the canned goods. This is extremely common everywhere in Europe. I don’t know if I’ve ever bought milk that was sired in a refrigerator. Once you open the container, however, you have to refrigerate it.

In the fridge though right
I actually googled it and it said chocolate milk 2-4 hours at room temp
So something is horrifying here. It is fake milk or people are buying spoiled milk today

What I found on their website. Looks like you need to refrigerate after opening.
Our ultrafiltration and aseptic packaging allow us to be shelf stable for up to 9 months on Elite 42g protein products and up to 12 months on 26g protein products.
After opening, all Core Power® products should be consumed within 14 days as any other milk and kept refrigerated.

Well if you can’t trust the gas station lady for important food/health decisions, then who can you trust?

i don't know why, but i trust her

I think they have the long expiration date because they remove the lactose.
This idiot is probably confusing it with the protein shake type products. That milk definitely goes bad if you leave it warm.

When you buy a case of Fairlife at Costco, it’s sitting right in the middle of the store, at room temp for days/weeks

Ultra pasteurized milk is stable at room temperature. Not sure if Fairlife is ultra pasteurized or not. Those smaller single serve milks are typically ultra pasteurized like the organic Horizon milks and don't need refrigeration. The core milk from Fairlife is shelf stable, but doubt the regular milk is.

This is something I notice when I travel. Milk and eggs aren't refrigerated in most places.

The soy and seed oils don’t need to be refrigerated unlike real American milk

yep
Every "local" grocery stores I've been to in Mexico, the eggs are just on a shelf.

Egg farmer tells me the processing is what makes them have to be refrigerated, breaks the protective membrane or something. Farm fresh eggs are fine long term at room temp. Unless you refrigerate them then you have to keep them refrigerated

But the biggest game changer was when I found out butter doesn't have to be refrigerated. And it's better in the dish, soft and spreadable

This knowledge has been a game changer in my relationship with toast.
