A couple of months ago I was going through the drive through at Popeyes and the lady asked me do I want medium or large. I said medium assuming it was the size that reflected the price on the menu since she never gave me a small option, but to my surprise there was like a 50 cents upcharge because I got medium. Didn't think too much of it until today I had another similar issue at whataburger.

I pull up in the drive through and order the sweet and spicy bacon burger meal and the lady puts it in as a large combo instead of regular. I noticed it as I was pulling around. She never asked me if I wanted large. I pulled up to the window and told them I never said large combo and just wanted the regular combo. Is anyone else experiencing the same stuff or is it just me? I'm assuming they are being directed to do this by corporate.

The combo meals really sucked when they first came out. Each one came with a very small drink. If you changed the drink to large (for the record, I drink unsweet tea if I get fast food), you'd get a large fry too (and a large price increase).

Some of this has changed.

ETA: What really frosts my shorts is when a burger and a drink cost more than combo with a burger, fries and drink. "
It wastes a lot of food since some people won't eat any or all of the fries.

Stop eating fast food and you won’t have to worry about ‘up charges’ or their low iq employees.

This is your mistake. Take the word "regular" out of your vocabulary. It is probably the only word in existence that means something different to damn near every person in the world.

How much do you weigh? Do you have a gym membership? It sounds like she saw you and assumed you would want a large. This has never happened to me.

I wouldn't call getting more food for a more money a scam, but I also don't like the assumptions by workers. I've had bartenders try to serve me doubles on mixed drinks without asking. Not a scam, but sleazy imo.

I don’t know, but fast food prices have increased at a pace to rival car prices.

Two regular Arby’s roast beef sandwiches are like $11 now.

A Big Mac combo comes to about $10 now.

People + environment with addictive stimuli = people doing it again and again. You think it matters if fast employees were high or low IQ? People in buy it, eat it and get their fix. Look at the ingredients in most grocery items. It’s process junk. And when people are going down the aisle. It’s between them and the food on the shelf. No high IQ or Low IQ employees to deal with. And people know what they should and shouldn’t eat. But which option do they pick?

I once argued with a Burger King employee because their listed sizes were medium and large. No small. I said how can you have a medium but not a small? You can small and large. You can have small, medium, and large. You cannot have medium and large. It defies logic, it’s like dividing by zero

Why order a drink at a fast food place? Just drink from your water bottle.

It's all out of control. The normal Chikfila order is like $37 for 2 adults and a baby and tacobell isn't much cheaper.

It's to the point where we just order to go from a little mom/pop mexican place down the road, for about the same price as TB we get way more food and it's way better.

I would say idk how fast food is still a thing, but I saw not long ago that you can get your door dash payments financed over months now so I guess that kinda tells you where we are at as a society
