I don't know if this was supposed to be sent internally as a joke, but FEMA sent this to our Hearst DC Bureau:

FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance is available to the state of Texas to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 15, 2024.

FEMA says the email was accidentally sent out and was meant to be for training purposes only. This all comes after the Saints beat the Cowboys, 44-19.

NEW ORLEANS —
The Federal Emergency Management Agency accidentally sent out a release declaring a major disaster for the state of Texas following the New Orleans Saints' dominating victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

The original release said, "FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance is available to the state of Texas to supplement recovery efforts in the areas affected by the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 15, 2024." FEMA said in a followup email that the message was sent out mistakenly. Their statement below reads:

"Today, the FEMA Press Office inadvertently sent an email to be used for training purposes only. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please direct any questions to the FEMA Press Office."

It definitely has errors.

There is no "Fort Worth" County; Fort Worth is located in Tarrant County.

And usually such a disaster would include all the counties of the Metroplex, Collin (which is between Denton and Rockwall) was left off.

Probably a joke of some sort.

Collin

There is a heavy presence of Louisiana natives in Collin County. No need to include them. Lolz
