FEMA Disaster Assistance still pending? Has anybody heard from them?

Do they really inspect every house? I don't see how they can go to 40,000 homes.
I rent and don't know what to do. How long of a wait should I expect? Anyone know?

It's like 110K households now.

Wow, I didn't know that. Been without cable and only had intermittent wifi.
How on earth can they view all of them. Surely they know which areas got water in the homes?

I filled out my application the evening of the 15th and had my inspection yesterday afternoon. No idea how long it'll take to get to the next step, but it's at least some progress.

If you do not have flood insurance they will likely inspect your house. The exception to this might be the really bad flooded areas, like the entire subdivisions that got water to the roofline. They probably would not bother with those inspections, they will just assume total loss and go from there.
If you have flood insurance, I have seen where they will take the flood adjuster's report and just use that.
i believe that they were trying to authorize some advance payments to the houses that were in really bad shape - i.e. they know an entire area flooded.

The guy in front of me in line at home depot was bitching the high heavens that he was only getting 1,800... he lost a truck with only liability insurance and everything in his house.
He said crime would go up in BR because people would have to steal to get their stuff back....exact words...

I got my decision today less than 24 hours after the inspection. I'm getting just over $14,000 for structural/appliance damages and $2000 for 2 months' rental assistance. I was afraid I'd get far less due to being a double-income tax-paying family. It'll cover most of the repairs as long as I do the work myself. Never floated drywall before, so that'll be fun.

No flood insurance right?
I ask because my father in law told me today they were denied any FEMA funds because they have flood insurance. Is that the general consensus? Have insurance get nothing from FEMA?

You rent what?
This one of your rental properties?

I've heard from other people with flood insurance that FEMA denied them. I didn't have it. My FEMA guy came out yesterday and said I would hear something within 10 days.

Sounds like govt at work.

I had a FEMA adjuster out at my place Sunday and said it would be about a week before I receive a decision about assistance. I did, however, get approved for a $199 stipend for purchasing a dehumidifier. Also received one month rental assistance with the next two months available if I can prove that I spent the entire amount for the first month on rent.
I have flood insurance and was informed when I applied for the FEMA disaster assistance that the money was being allocated to those who were uninsured and that I was ineligible for any assistance through FEMA, but could apply for a SBA loan.
I'll probably do that, as the building was covered with my insurance, but I did not have contents coverage... Guess what I'll be adding to my policy very, very soon!

Correct. The inspector (not an adjuster, but a contractor whose only job is to verify damage and ownership) simply measured the water line at one spot in the house, counted all my doors, rooms, and areas where the flooring is gone, asked me if I have a driveable car (I do) and where I'm staying. Showed him my ID and a mortgage statement to verify ownership. No questions at all about personal property outside of appliances.

My parents place flooded and the FEMA inspector looked at their place yesterday. They do not have flood insurance and live in Scott/Lafayette. They only told them that they were turning the report into Washington and have not heard back from anyone yet. They did take note of all of the appliances and measured the house.
