Finding roommates in BR

Decided to go to LSU and looking for an apt near campus. Not from here so I only know a handful of people. Has anyone had any luck with apts that automatically assign roommates or are you pretty much guaranteed to get a weirdo? Also do most of these places allow you to meet your potential roommates before agreeing to live with them? TIA

You'll usually fill out a questionnaire, and they'll try to you match you with someone with similar interests.

My parents own the condo where I live.
Need another person for the spring. You at LSU now?

first off, congrats on your decision to attend LSU...you won't regret it for a minute and you'll be a tiger for the rest of your life...
to answer your question, unless you are an older student or something like that, I would recommend you live in a dorm for at least a semester...you'll meet a lot more people and get to know the campus a hell of a lot better than living off campus...

This.
And don't live in the Pentagon, it's not as fun. We tried mattress jousting down the stairs, but somebody broke an arm.

If he lives in a dorm it will HAVE to be for a whole year or they will force you to pay some fee that's 1000+ to get out of your "1 year lease" with the dorm.

I see...it wasn't that way when I attended (but that was a hell of a long time ago)...however, my original opinion still applies...

A lot of the big student complexes are pretty full, but I'm sure places like Campus Crossing, Burbank Commons, and University Crescent will have rooms left and do roommate matching.
Neither of those places should be too expensive either.
Although I have to say I had fun in the dorm freshman year. Sure, you have a lot more freedom in an off campus apartment but living in the dorm for a year was worth it IMO. You'll have to call reslife though and see how many dorm rooms are still open.
ETA: Just saw you were transferring, disregard the dorm stuff

the big ones have matching programs to help people find relatively compatible room mates.
The smaller complexes are just luck of the draw if you don't have a specific person you know you're rooming with.

Can you request someone new if you meet the person and its not gonna work?

I know one of the higher-ups at Campus Crossings on Highland. Ask for Cade; he can set you up with an apartment and a fat girl.
