Translation: they want more pay and benefits, so claim “unsafe conditions” to get parents attention because they think it will tilt the scales in their favor

The pay really is horrible, though. Especially when you take into account the fact they're actively responsible for the well-being of 40 or 50 kids at one time. Down here in Naples, which is one of the richest zip codes in the country (I dont live in Naples), and with a good public school system, they make like 18-20 bucks an hour. With that kind of pay you wouldn't be able to afford to live within 25 miles of Naples.
