Foghat admits that 'Slow Ride' is about Verot School Road in Laffy

quote:
Roger Earl, drummer for the band and one of the founding members, told of how the song came about during an interview with Rolling Stone.
“Everyone thinks that Slow Ride is this song that you can seduce the other half with over a bottle of cheap red and a microwavable ready-meal” he said “But honestly it’s not about that at all. Dave (Peverett) wrote the song in 15 minutes on the tour bus whilst we were taking a detour through Lafayette, Louisiana, on the way to New Orleans. We took a road called Verot School Road. Jesus Christ… we were on that 4-mile stretch for two days. I think Stevie Wonder came up with the blueprints or something. Unbelievable. I can only assume it’s been widened or something by now, you’d have to be stupid not to do something about it.”

And it's really more of a Lafayette thread, so no music board.

That site recently tricked a bunch of people into believing that a guy turned down an $80k per year job because he'd have to turn left onto Johnston St.
I can't believe it's that effective

He must have been waiting to turn onto 90. Was there even a light at that intersection then or did you just have to turn right and floor it?

And all this time I thought it was about ambassador caffery

from the Festival International article

The festival, located in Lafayette’s historic downtown district, attracts more than 32 million people per year (according to local sources) and is world-renowned for it’s ability to attract the top Cajun and zydeco acts in the area, as well as females in their late-teens wearing flowery headbands, jean shorts, and faux-leather backpacks.

As much as I love laffy the traffic really is ridiculous. Baton rouge is ludicrous. Neither one has a loop

It's real to me, damnit.

Why would a small town like Laffy have a loop? There's what, about 10k people there?

How bad is BR traffic INSIDE the city? I know how bad it is on the interstate. Believe me. But is it just as bad within the city?
Lafayette's traffic is so terrible at certain times. Some horrible drivers too. I love the city but that's its biggest issue.

Figured. Just never lived there or got caught in bad traffic (except leaving an LSU game) inside the city.

The site is totally legit and not satire.

quote:
LAFAYETTE, LA – Local F150 owner and regionally-renowned T-boy Steven Boudreaux today confirmed that he kind of regrets lifting his truck by 20 feet, as his daily morning routine of hitting up the Chik-fil-A drive-thru has been made somewhat more difficult.
quote:
“Well I went get my truck lifted on Friday by like 20 feet ’cause that shite looks unreal bruh, but I guess I didn’t think too far ahead because now I gotta carry one of those megaphones around with me so the lady at the drive-thru window can hear me make my damn order” Mr Boudreaux explained.

Are you really so stupid you thought that was a real story?

If you're not from Lafayette, why would you question this story? It isn't like Foghat has been relevant the last 40 years.

I'm kind of surprised that they have some decently clever writers.
