Looking for something fun, interesting, or entertaining to do as a day trip from Baton Rouge. Something out the ordinary so basically not New Orleans.
TIA!

Me and my wife.
Was thinking about Clark Creek. Went last March and it was great but just wanted some new ideas.

Avery Island? I think that may be better in the springtime though.
There are a few wineries around that usually have tasting rooms...Google Louisiana wineries. Even if you're not that into wine it can be a fun thing to do.

Always a good idea. Y'all could go do some antique shopping in St. Fran too if that's what you're into.
As far as in B.R., the State Capital and the surrounding areas are beautiful and interesting to explore. Go grab lunch at Spanish Town Market.
Old State Capital and Old Governor's mansion are pretty cool too. A drive down Highland Road is always nice. I don't know, options are pretty limited.

Have you ever been up hwy 1 by False River? I would think they are harvesting sugarcane right now. Kind of cool if you've never seen that area. Also, Oak Alley or Nottoway are two great plantations.

Tammany trace bike path is fun. Grab lunch at Rips on the lake in Mandeville, ride to and through the state park right there. (I forget the name of park )
There are winery tours in Jackson and Clinton La too that are good.

Agree. If you can have a good time in NOLA for a day you are fricking up.
If you like the hick route go on a swamp tour in an airboat.

This is definitely true, but I assumed he meant he lives in New Orleans and wanted to go somewhere else for a change of pace

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.
For all those freaking out since I don't want to go to NOLA. Chill, just went there last weekend. Wanted something different.

Natchez, MS
What are the best things to do there?

It's a cool historical town to walk around and sight see, a ton of plantations and antique shops, a few bars/restaurants. It's a nice day trip.
