But not here.

I only found this out today while trying to get ahold of a Canadian co-worker.

What's the deal with that?

It's a holiday in Louisiana. As much as I crap on my home state, it's celebrated.

They have more damn statutory holidays than most. The provinces have provincial holidays that some other provinces don’t. Go to Scandinavian countries and they take holiday for the entire summer Real fun when you’re working on a project and your OEM doesn’t respond for more than a month when you’re needing information.

As far as Good Friday goes, most companies I’ve worked for gave/still give this as a stat holiday. With the woke DEI agenda that was being shoved down everyone’s throats, those same companies moved away from giving it as stat holiday any longer and started observing more woke “holidays”.

Not just Canada…in many European and even Asian countries. Not here never made sense to me.

We really don't need more holidays. We have enough. As a Christian, it's the biggest weekend of the year for celebrating the resurrection. Having the govt declare it as a holiday would seem to ruin it for me.

I appreciate the irony of having a Seinfeld meme in a post about Good Friday whether intended or not.

Guess what? When I was a kid, I lived in Nicaragua.

They take the whole week off as a "national holiday". Everything closes except hospitality, retail, markets, entertainment and hospital.

They will sacrifice their first and second born if it allows them to be lazy.

They probably do it so they can blame Jesus for their economic problems.
