Is the sciences real behind grounding sheets?

What Is Grounding?
Grounding, also known as earthing, is when you stand on the earth or have contact with a product that’s grounded into the earth. This connects your body to the natural electric charge of the earth, transferring electrons into your body. Some research shows that soaking up electrons can lower inflammation, ease stress, and improve sleep, to name a few.

Also known as vitamin G or electronic nutrition, some experts think grounding fixes an “electron deficiency syndrome” that plays a role in multiple health disorders. In other words, spending time on a grounding mat, walking in your yard, or wading in a lake can counteract the effects of not having direct contact and balance out your body.

What is earthing?
“Earthing is about having direct skin contact with the surface of the Earth, whether it’s your bare feet, your hands or other parts of your body,” Dr. Albers explains. The theory is that when we physically connect with the ground, its electrical energy rebalances our own. Proponents believe that the rise in chronic illnesses can be attributed, in part, to our footwear.

According to the concept of “grounding” or “Earthing,” yes, it could. While the idea of connecting with nature and Earth for healing powers has been around throughout history, this wellness trend is hitting its modern stride thanks to social media, celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, and ads for grounding products.

Has Any OTers sucessfuuly increased their standard of living with grounding sheets?

the best way to ground is internally. Put a piece of rebar in the ground and run a cable from it through your window and in your arse while you sleep.

Probably not, it reeks of pseudo-science.

my wife has a friend who's a big fan of these, but she's also a flat-earther and is convinced that the moon landings were faked as well as a number of other nutball ideas

you have to hand it to the marketing strategy though. Quick hits on social media are incredibly effective.

I have a logical, level-headed coworker that swears by them. He said it helped his shoulder pain. I thought it was full loon idea until I heard it from someone I respect.

The science doesn’t back it up, but the placebo effect is very real.

Human Belief…a fascinating topic. How do people come to believe what they believe. In my many years of interest in this subject and observation (note: zero applied research methods towards the following), my conclusion:

1 heap of brain / amygdala design. Some lean rational-dominant and less influenced by emotion. Others emotions-dominant and less influenced by the rational.

2 large scoop of context. How and who raised you, where and when…

3 locus of control - degree to which individuals believe they have control over outcomes in their lives.

A mix of these have led some to think the Earth is flat, others the Earth is a sphere, there is one / THE God, many gods, no God/gods.

My conclusion: Life’s design and all the years of cooking (whether created, evolved or both) has led to broad array of thinking within and between we humans. Whatever is the reason (or not), it wreaks of many questions that many will never ask…and result in electron Nikes or electron flip flops some such.

I do believe in grounding by walking barefoot on grass. No idea about any of these other “products” though.

I’ve found that hooking up my nad’s to a trickle charger on a 2-amp setting overnight throughout the duration of my slumber is quite sufficient as well

Wife got some awhile back as a gift and about all I've noticed is I dream more vividly. Plus side is the instructions claim it works best with more bare skin contact to the sheets. If your wife is a pj's kinda gal and is interested in grounding sheets, it's a good way to get her to ditch the jammies.
