I have a little cousin at LSU right now, and he pretty much confirms this. All he and his friends do is just lay around, play on their phones, smoke weed, and play video games. Not everyone does that, but that's all he and his friends say they do.

Sounds like a loser. Lot of college kids still go out to the bars.

Don’t forget Augustine’s. We would go there occasionally before moving on to the Brown Door. Freaky girls, rugby players, and bikers once in a while.

We tended to go wherever the best drink specials were. Razzy’s/The Beach Club did free drinks w/ no cover before 8 PM on Wednesday (I think) for a while. Got spectacularly shitfaced there bunches. Stray Cats had $1 fishbowls on Thursday (I think). Of course, the old Daiquiri’s were good for 2 for 1 on Tuesday and Thursday to bide the time.

Augustine's was the place I'm thinking and not Cate St Cantina.

Was there a Cate St Cantina?

Speaking of the Brown Door, I was told that over the past few years they were doing cover charges of $15-20 on some nights that were popular with the college crowd.

Augustine's

The place where all the metalheads went after the bowling alley closed.

Only bar in town that had a 9' pool table when we played in Busch League tournaments.

It's actually the exact opposite. Harvard and Yale acceptance rate in the '80s was 20%. Today it is 3%.

The amount of seats has more or less stayed the same, yet population and easy internet access to apply has increased a ton. Making it 7x as competitive. What this does is increase the enrollment of universities like Texas State, South Florida, etc. Universities that aren't too competitive. I believe even Louisiana which isn't increasing population, univeristies like NW St and UL are increasing enrollment because this phenomenon. Crap schools are vastly increasing enrollment.

Not for law school.

I had a good LSAT score. Thought about getting my degree at Louisiana Tech and trying to get an elite JD.

Opted to go early to Tulane, instead.

I'm lucky I graduated. I wasn't ready for NOLA at the age of 21.

Forget Hammond - Baton Rouge has been the worst bar scene in the SEC. Pretty insane

sure the accuracy of the claim, but there’s been a lot written surrounding Gen Z and not drinking. Personally I think it’s due to the internet/smartphones.

False, it’s because they can’t afford alcohol. Everything “wrong” with Gen Z is due to Covid lockdowns, social media, and by far most importantly: being significantly poorer than previous generations.

Gen Z drinks way less (it's part of the reason breweries are going out of business left and right), are acutely aware that cameras are everywhere, and generally doesn't feel the need to physically go places when they can stay at home.

Also keep in mind there is now a moratorium on new bars, opening in Hammond so many of the new places that are opening as a bar / restaurant.

I forgot to mention a few of the real shitholes like Robert E Lee's, Ramada Inn bar(name?) and Little Debbie's Lounge

I know. It was an ‘older’ place back in the day. Now, it’s the current Man of the Year recipient for their adopted fraternity. They really take care of the boys. Several are employed there as regular and event workers. The owner’s will even cash and hold a check until a kid gets paid. They also give out more than a few meals and designated driver rides.

E Lee’s chicken drop. It was like I left my redneck home and walked into another redneck home.
