I used to like that place until they started pushing the tranny shite. I had to throw my tshirt in the trash bc I couldn't give it away. Then Low Road shut down... but at least Deadbeat is around.

the scene for college kids in the 80s/90s there is a feeling of degeneracy

Would lying on one’s back and receiving “shots” directly from the Jäger tap at the Bengal fall in this category?

How about live [basically] sex shows at The Art Bar?

I’ve only heard tales of such debauchery of course.

I see that post is 2 years old. The feed looks pretty normal and fun otherwise. Maybe just a brief phase?

What? No it was like 95/96.
I remember because while I was over 21 I knew a lot of ppl that got nailed for MIP a week after they could legally drink.

I guess I must have dreamed all the years I bartended in the 80's.

The legal drinking age was increased to 21 in Louisiana in 1986. There was a loophole that allowed Private Clubs to sell alcohol to minors. That loophole was closed in 1996. That's why your confused about the year the law actually changed.

Nah I'm still hetero... just don't want to be seen wearing a shirt for a gay bar

Stray Cats was my favorite, as well. Likely because they played decent music.

Hey High C, here’s a little pop quiz.

What’s the last song Stray Cats would play at closing time?

Brady’s still open?

Occasionally, I would go there to lunch, around my freshman year. They used to have fantastic chicken fingers, or what I thought was good as a college student.

I went to The Steakhouse in December 2023, and I remember seeing Brady's sign. I believe they were still open.

Pretty sure it was New York or whatever the name was. I remember lining up in a row doing the leg left thing at the end of the night. That’s when you knew you had to try to make a last minute play to try to get a woman to go home with you.

If you were going to bars in the 80s and 90s, it’s probably time to stop going to bars.
