I don’t joke about Jesus and going to mass.
Apologies, then.
Given that this is the OT, you can understand my initial skepticism. Sorry about that.
And... for Easter Sunday...

Good lord, that brings back memories of Houston. The woman, seeing him live and everything from it (that and his Arkansas Blues).
Now I have to have a bourbon.

I've shared on here that my dad was a preacher and when we lived in California one of the ministries he had was a prison minister
Years later my dad informed me that I had sung on the same stage as Johnny cash not at the same time not the same show but I sang at Vacaville which is crazy to think they were having a 4 year old kid go in amongst prisoners but it was a more innocent time
I sang Jesus loves me and one other song, and I actually remember one of the shows because there were cookies and punch

I remember being a kid and watching my momma (grandmother) cry listening to that song. This was before Nitty Gritty Dirt Band pulled in everyone to record this version. She’d listen to the Carter Family version if I remember correctly. I was too young at that time to really understand why she’d cry when she heard it, but now I do. Between the years 1966 and 1971, she buried both parents, her husband, and both her children. And on top of all that, she was left alone with her two grandsons, aged 1 (me) and 2 (my brother), to raise.
They don’t make women like her any more.

She was born in 1920 in very rural northern Alabama. So, that sort of music is what she was raised on. Thus, it’s what I heard a lot of when I was a kid.
