Have any of y'all ever represented yourself in small claims court?

How did it go? Was it worth the effort for you?

Sued Acadian Ambulance in small claims court due to a dispute over a bill. Basically, they were listed as a provider in my insurance paperwork, but they were claiming it was a "different" Acadian Ambulance. There were some other factors, but that was the gist. Filed a Petition for Declaratory Judgment. Actual pretrial resolution was to terms which were in a nondisclosure agreement, and my suit was voluntarily dismissed shortly thereafter.
Caveat: I'm a lawyer.

Yep. Was worth the effort. Neighbor next door inherited property. Property was waterfront and had no retaining wall. Wasnt being maintained and it's settling was causing damage to my property. They refused to try and work with me so after 3 years of being blown off I took it to small claims court. Judge said it was worth more than $5k worth of damage and I should take it to higher court.
Neglectful neighbor decided to make a deal on the neighboring lot. If anything it got them to stop ignoring me and come to the table.
Thats all I got.

It got dismissed bc I sued the property management company and not the landlord and I have to go back and sue the landlord. But basically I paid a deposit and then was told my emotional support animals couldn’t come until they were approved at a board meeting and the property manager couldn’t tell me when that was and it wasn’t in the lease and they didn’t even send me the lease until after I paid the deposit. So, still on going…

I have. I sued an ex-girlfriend. I'd spontaneously dumped her on the way to a beach vacation. Literally turned the car around and took her back to mom's, but she still had possession of this crappy old car I'd lent her.
I didn't really have a problem with her continuing to use the car for a while, but then she let the battery die. She didn't want me to come get it running because she was afraid of me. She didn't want to jump it herself because she didn't "trust it anymore"... to get from like Biloxi to Gulfport. Just a stupid, helpless, mollycoddled bitch who was coasting in life on some really glorious udders.
So I sued that heifer. The funny part was that when they went to swear her in, she couldn't raise her right arm up because she'd been run over as a kid or something and her shite was all fused together Bob Dole-style. The judge was just like, yeah, don't sweat it, we're good LOL.
The case was pretty straightforward, and I quickly obtained a verdict in my favor. The car was affirmed as mine and I would be allowed to retrieve it. My request for punitive damages was rebuffed.
Later I got a job working in the offshore oil industry where my superior, Terry, took great pride in having me regale newcomers, guests, etc. with my court story. He really liked the Bob Dole part. So yes, I do think the lawsuit was worth it.

Its designed for you to not have a lawyer. Nonetheless, get a lawyer to just show up if its worth anything.

I did.. I also attended and degreed at a few other institutions as well.
I do question if you actually attended though. You rarely post anything of substance and you say the same tired shite all the time.
Go derail a different topic, my guy.

I sued Express Oil Company in the 1980s after they ripped my oil pan using an air wrench. I was driving a crappy Isuzu Impulse at the time. The Express Oil mechanic told me his air wrench tore the oil pan and Express Oil couldn't fix it. I told him that Express Oil was going to pay and he said he was sorry but I would have to talk to his manager who was gone to lunch.
I called the Isuzu dealer and told them I was getting my car towed to them. They told me that they were going to have to pull the engine and disconnect/reconnect a lot of other parts in order to replace the oil pan. The cost was over $1000. I waited at Express Oil for the manager to get back, gave him the cost and he said they weren't paying to get my oil pan replaced and that my oil pan was apparently defective anyway. I told him right then I was going to sue them.
Express Oil showed up to court with a lawyer and their oil change specialist and approached me before the case started. They wanted to settle for half of what I told them it cost me. I told them to shove it. The Lawyer told me I would lose the case since he was smarter than me and I would get nothing.
I had prior talked with the Isuzu dealer and sales guy and told him what happened and that I might buy another car from them in the future. The dealer had his mechanic go to court to testify in my defense. I showed up with the paid invoice to replace my oil pan, including towing, and the mechanic testified that they had to pull the engine and all of the other details. He also testified that it was obvious that the oil pan was ripped by massive over tightening that could only be done by an air wrench in his opinion and that mechanics should never tighten the oil plug on an oil pan with an air wrench. He brought the oil pan with him to show it to the judge. The Express Oil mechanic said he didn't use an air wrench and he manually used normal force with a socket wrench. The judge looked at the oil pan and said there was no way that no normal human being could manually rip the metal on my oil pan using a normal socket wrench. The Express Oil guy said that's what happened. The judge asked at what point that the metal was tearing for several inches did he realize that the oil pan was being damaged. The mechanic just threw his hands up. The judge told the Express Oil mechanic was a liar and ruled for the full amount in my favor.

The only time I go in the courthouse is to pay property tax yearly.

I've represented myself in code enforcement Court.....I think technically it's municipal court. City attorney presented his case and I stood up and systematically refuted each of his claims and dropped mic when I threw down my Landscape Architects license. Case dismissed.

The court has heard enough and is ready to rule.
