My garage has a really strong smell of like spray paint or paint thinner, chemical type smell. It’s not anywhere else in the house or in the backyard, just the garage. I didn’t see anything spilled, any ideas what it could be?

ETA: it was a leaking can, found it thank you for the help!

I bet it's spray paint or paint thinner

Well, it could be spray paint or paint thinner, a chemical type product...

Sometimes cans will rust out and leak. If you’ve got open bags of fertilizer they can cause corrosion.

turn off power to any appliance in the garage (water heater, fridge, etc) that could set off a gas explosion

Investigate the leak and figure it out.

Exact same thing happened at my dad's house recently. Except with the odor was also a pool of sticky stuff. Simple answer: a can of paint thinner had finally rusted out and oozed out of the cabinet.

Dump your home garbage can all over the floor of your garage. That should help with the spray paint smell.

Probably something to do with one of the vehicles. Maybe a Freon leak?

Got any indigenous Indian neighbors? Check their noses for a paint dot on the tip.

Is there a loft or crawl space something may be stored in where the heat could have caused something to rupture.
