By now you've probably seen the silhouette challenge on TikTok, with its distinct red filter. The trend started as a form of empowerment, a way for people to feel sexy and good in their bodies. But because everything is terrible, some people have found a way to turn a feel-good trend into depraved gratification.
quote:
There are now many videos on YouTube instructing people how to use editing software or apps to change the contrast and color in a way that reduces the silhouette effect. Because participants are just a silhouette in the challenge, many are wearing less clothing, or lingerie, or nothing at all. The goal of the editing is to reveal their bodies.
quote:
Obviously not linking, but there are videos all over YouTube offering tutorials for how to "remove" the red filter for TikTok's Silhouette Challenge, in which women dance nude or partially nude in silhouette. This is a huge consent violation and @YouTube should remove them ASAP.
Blocking anyone who says this is not a consent violation thanks sweeties

Article writer got in wrong. The creators of this trend created it specifically to do the editing

So these stupid narcissistic attention whores are being exposed...
Perfect...

So they are dancing half naked or naked in front of a camera for the public to see and get mad when people do intense research on it?

So let me get this straight. Women are going on tiktock. VOLUNTARILY making and POSTING videos of themselves literally dancing nude like prostitutes in the windows of a red light district. Then getting mad people can use technology to filter the videos enough to see them naked?
Perhaps this is my age showing, but if you don't want this to happen then DON'T MAKE AND POST THE frickING VIDEOS to social media.
The levels of narcissism are absurd. "I want to be able to draw attention to myself...by ONLY on my terms. Anyone else who doesn't give me the attention I'm seeking ONLY in the manner in which it is being sought MUST be banned!!!"

Nah. I get what you’re saying but the issue is it’s a false sense of security or expectation that the video is what it is and can’t be altered.
I guess.
IMO only idiots are on Tic Tac anyway.

You should always assume the worst when posting something online.

I feel like these exact words need to be loudspeaker broadcasted in every school every single morning.

Exactly. Once it is out there in the world there is nothing you can do to stop someone else from doing what they will with it.
I feel like I spend every day of my life fussing at my daughters to drill this point home. Sadly, we now have a generation of young people that don't have any understanding of a life without social media.
