How do you list your college degree?

I graduated EJ Ourso College of Business and was an ISDS major. This was many years ago now.
I think my actual diploma just says "EJ Ourso College of Business Administration"
If I recall "Business Administration" used to be it's own separate major in EJ Ourso but I don't see it listed on their website now...I only see "General Business"
Is my diploma incorrect in listing "business administration" instead of ISDS?

My diploma lists the college department and then lists the subcategory that was my field.
My major was the college. The subcategory was my field.
My major was the college. The subcategory was my field.

IDK. They have been sitting in a box in storage for a long time.

I don't have a college credit to my name, much less a piece of paper from a college.

I don't think it really matters. Put what it was when you attended. Whatever it is internally titled will show up on a background check.

I don't really. I think it's on my LinkedIn and maybe on my facebook page somewhere.

That's just the name of the college, it's not the name of your degree.
You can only go back to the 2013-2014 catalog on LSU's website, but that shows a BS in ISDS. Depending on how much longer ago it was than that, it's possible the degree changed.
But most likely you could say you have a BS in ISDS from LSU or a BS in ISDS from EJ Ourso College of Business at LSU.

Does your diploma actually say this? You said you "think" it does. Generally your major is listed on your diploma, but you'd have to actually look at it to verify. Or maybe you didn't complete the ISDS degree and got a General Business degree. Or maybe the diploma was misprinted. You'd have to look at your actual transcripts to verify that.

Same for me. I never understood why either.

While that may be true, he needs to be able to explain it when any inconsistency is reported. If he is surprised by it after some HR background check service flags it, it will look suspicious.

If an HR dept flags that as "suspicious" it would further solidify my opinion of HR personnel in general, and that group in particular.

I've had it happen to me, which is why I know anecdotally how stupid some of them can be. But we knew that already.

JD
Never got an undergraduate degree. Back in the day, you could go to law school with 96 hours of college.
Later, I completed the requirements to teach except for student-teaching...and completed everything other than an internship and the proficiency exam to get a master's in counseling.
Addiction derailed all of those.

I want to know what you're going to do for my company and why we should hire you.
This is your lucky day, don't blow it.

This would be really odd. The background check really just says "yes, degree from X on date Y". The hiring manager would ask any degree related questions in an interview if they mattered.

You communicate well.
That is a lost art, and still valuable.

Then why did you feel the need to chime in on this thread with a comment that is irrelevant?
