As out of stater this one annoys me a little, but not as bad as Saint Amant. How in the hell did they get Santamah from that?

when i first moved to ap i said Saint Amant. And people were quick to correct me. my wife still cannot say sanamah

But there is no way Saint Amant started as Santamah. It is just the southern drawl that makes it that way.

Are all those saying LaPlass pronouncing that like La glass with a P? If so, that is so wrong. Lah Plahs is more like it.

French has masculine and feminine words. There's Saint (masculine) and Sainte (feminine.)

With masculine words you are supposed to drop the hard "t" sound.

"San Amah" became your "Santamah." Bad bad bad pronunciation of French!

I've only ever heard black people say it like this. No idea why.
