I imagine that vending machines have come a long way since coin slugs.

Might want to start with parking meters before tackling Twinkie machines.

In the early 90's there was a kid at my high school that devised a way to feel bills into machines and then get the bills back. Many times he was feeding $5 and $20s.

The nerds at submariner school in Groton did this. They would put that clear masking tape on a bill and let it slide in up to a certain point then jerk it back out and get the credit for it. Or just spit salt water in the change slot and BAM Dr. Pepper for days plus all the coins from the machine

Just drill a hole in a querter, tie some dental floss through it, boom profit

I remember doing that when I was 12 or 13 -- stuck it in the machine and was left with the floss hanging out of the coin slot

That Auburn degree is clearly paying dividends.

We might have known the same guy. He read the anarchist's cookbook and made a dollar that had a special design cut into it, and then taped it up somehow and would insert the dollar into change machines and was able to pull it back out -- drained change machines dry

We used to do this in high school except we sprayed the water in the dollar slot. I wonder if it still works?

Pretty sure you meant that youve never seen a twinkie in a vending machine that was only 0.75. Probably more like a dollar.

It cost more than a quarter to make a fake quarter unless you have a stamping too.

You have to have the right width, diameter, weight and it can't be ferrous.

Though could be worthwhile making dollar or fifty cent coins, though most machines don't take them.

side note, I wish we had the scope of vending machines Japan has.
