How long does it take for a dog's giblets to shrink and disappear after he is neutered?

Fred (the dog, not the admin) was neutered a few weeks ago...much to my surprise, they left his scrotum in place and simply removed his testes. While the sack has shrunk considerably, it it is still visible. Does it completely flatten out and go away over time? The vet didn't really tell us what to expect. When I picked him up after the operation, I was surprised to see he still had his bean bag.

You mean bean bag, right? Still had his bean bag? Beans are gone, right?

I got my dog neutered when he was 5 or 6. He still has an empty sack hanging. You can have "neuticals" put in to make it look like he still has a stack. they are just stainless balls. I don't know if I would put my dog through a second surgery to give him fake balls but it would have been nice to throw them in while the sack was already opened anyway

He doesn't.
Also, my dog was neutered about 2 years ago and he still has a coin purse hanging there, but it's definitely empty. Swelling at first made it look like they had never touched him.

You have to rub it for 15 min a day for 10 days and it will go away.

I just assumed that they cut the entire scrotum off… Did they ever do that back in the day?

thought they just did a little slit on the shaft now and the dog gets to keep his balls. My last two were females so i could be wrong.

If it bothers you, they can trim it off for an additional fee.

I'd say it might have to do with how old the dog is if his balls have dropped or not. I got my dog neutered at 3 months and it does look like anything is there. My buddy got his dog neutered at 3 yrs old and his coin purse is still there

My dog is 7 and was neutered 6.5 years ago. Not sure exactly when the sack disappeared, but there ain't shite there anymore. Not even a patch of fur marking the spot.

Pretty crazy
