You're a grown man, make your own decisions about your footwear.

If I have to pick a tennis shoe for casual wear, NB

If more of an athletic casual, nike.

This is of course assuming I HAVE to wear a tennis shoe casually. Almost never happens

Regardless of age, NOBODY should ever wear Vans shoes.

You care what people think until about 30. There is a transition zone between 30-35, then you revert to being 13 again after that. I always wore checkered vans and Chucks when I was younger. I have been meaning to go buy a couple of pairs of both for this summer.

I've been wearing them since I was in my teens and I just turned 42. I have plenty of other shoes also but I still enjoy wearing Vans around on my days off. They are comfortable and I personally like the way they look and could care less what any other guy thinks of what I choose to wear! My wife bought me a new pair of the MLB LA Dodgers Vans for my birthday a few weeks ago and I've been wearing those the past few days. Why does everyone worry so much about what other guys are wearing now days? If you dig Vans then wear them, if not, wear whatever you like and quit worrying about what other guys think of your clothing choices. I really DGAF or even notice what other guys are wearing! Maybe I'm old school but personally,I'd rather look at women!!

I have never and will never own a pair of vans. If I see people wearing them, I immediately know they have zero taste.

I mostly see Chucks on teen girls and older, hippie types. I have no problem with them. I see them as a classic. I don't wear them because I find them pretty uncomfortable.

never too old? If you want a pair of sneakers that aren't brightly colored running shoes or Frat-issued NB what's the problem with them? My 80 year old uncle wears vans slip-ons because they're slip-ons.

Call it an early midlife crisis or peak jadedness of other opinions, it is very liberating to not give a shite

They don't care. In this situation one person is judging a person based on shoes while the other is not giving a shite

Not giving a shite is liberating
