You got irrigation or a means to water it daily?

It also won’t root that well in short time.

What type and size of area?

I’m very new to this aspect of lawn care. A dirt supplier recommended I hydroseed vs dry seed when I told him I wanted to seed my lawn, so I’ve been looking into it.

The area isn’t very big. About 600 sq feet.

It’s all about what type of seed you’re spraying (if you know what I mean).

You may want to use a tackifier too..

Oh and you have to water the shite out of it and pray the birds don’t pick the seed

Water is several times a day or just generously one good time a day?

You people never stop. They never should have started with the medicinal stuff. Slippery slope. I said it back then and here you go.

Grade out the yard with a slight crown

That’s 1 and a half pallets of grass. Buy some sod and lay it. You and your husband could seriously do this In a day. You can order directly and get it delivered from delta sod or something.

Or hire some laborers from Home Depot parking lot for a few hours.

For 600sf you’ll get much better results with sod (go zoysia...it’s much more resilient than st aug)

We’ve put so much sweat equity into the backyard that I’m all in with the diy stuff now. I talked to Dan rhe sand man and he was very against seeding a lawn and recommended sod also. Delta recommended Dan when I called them for a quote today. He’s really knowledgeable.

Dan is good. You can literally hire some laborers and get them to lay it. Sod can be delivered directly. Look o. Facebook for any little lawn care company and ask them how much to lay 1.5 pallets of sod. 3 guys could lay that in 2 hours max. Might cost you 200 bucks total in labor (if that)

I’m simultaneously amazed and not surprisedar all that a somewhat knowledgeable response happened almost instantly.

Should have caught me before my 13th Birthday.

That year I made enough seed to cover your 600 square feet and then some.

We could probably just lay it ourselves since it’s so little. I was under the impression that sod would cost a shitload.

What should we lay first, the patio or the lawn?

600 sq ft is 1.5 pallets of sod. 450 sq ft each.

Depending on what type of turf you want, you're looking at 400-600$

I did it at a previous house. Wife was pissed for the first 2 weeks at the color of the spray. Said she could see the damn yard from the interstate (about 1/2mile away). Worked out great though. Best lawn in the neighborhood once the Bermuda was eliminated by the centipede I had mixed in the spray.

I found pallets of zoysia sod on fb just now for $150/each. That’s not bad at all. Dan toldvbe ged give me the 10 cubic yards of dirt we need for $150. This is turning out to be a lot cheaper than I originally anticipated.

Sod is your best bet. It would be hard to get a company to hydro seed only 600 sq ft.

A lot of people giving recommendations without knowing jack about the situation. What state? What grass type do you prefer/plan on seeding? What is the shade/sun ratio? What foot traffic/dog traffic do you have? Do you care about how much you water?

10 yards of dirt or sand is a frick ton to move yourself. Like a mountain of material that between you and the husband will take an entire weekend just to move and spread that

I’d pay someone to spread and grade, then lay the sod myself

Lay the patio first. Always do the Hardscapes before any planting or sodding
