Seems like this happens a few times a month for years now. I'd love to see the State's DOTD stats on it...

One dead after crash, vehicle fire on I-12 East at Satsuma

WBRZ still missing Falon Brown

ETA: Paradoxically, seems to have really picked up since they three laned that stretch....My butt cheeks cinch up every time I drive it, especially West Bound. Even though this one was East.

ETA: Looked for stats. None I can find. Plenty of 1-12 fatality wreck hits though....

A little context would help. Ya know, like what causes issues

Is that near the LIGO Observatory?

Maybe the observatory sensors are causing cars and trucks to wreck or spontaneously combust on the interstate in that area.

I wonder if their sensors also pick up the crash and they call the Hartford site in Washington state to see if they reported the same disturbance. The guys in Hartford come back on the line after checking and say no, we know how to drive, and hang up.

It's a straight, flat road. It is not a death trap, but people who drive like idiots are.

Try driving in a state with curves and hills.

I-12 is built on Sacred Indian Burial ground... It seems there is always some fatal car accident happening...

I made a round trip on 12 from Hammond to BR every weekday for twenty years. As of 4/1 not anymore and it is glorious

when I am governor I will dismantle all entrances to 12 in LP and salt the earth for a 3 mile perimeter in both directions. It’s not safe for civilized auto traffic

This!

Add: it’s 3 lanes too. Anti death trap. Unless idiotic driving.

y’all are missing the point. It’s not the roads fault it’s a death trap, it’s LPs fault

Well I follow you. It's Precisely due too all the idiot drivers out there. Three whole lanes and people going 60 in the far left and 85 in the far right! 18 wheelers are back to back.

But a Death trap is death trap as soon as you enter one. Makes no difference why it's there right?
Three lanes was a great idea.
But once again Murphy's law strikes. People are literally burning alive out there.

It's the drivers more than the roads. People driving slow in the left lane only, rolling roadblocks of 18 wheelers and trucks hauling campers taking 4 miles to pass each other and the people raging from sitting in the mess or just driving like maniacs makes for a dangerous mix. The I-12/I-55 cloverleaf interchange was designed for 55mph interstate speeds needs to be redesigned. I-12 would benefit from being 6 laned all the way through to account for the ever increasing amount of traffic.

Wonder if they would bother to look into the volume of 18 wheeler traffic that goes through this corridor and the fact that neither the LASP or local smokies have any interest in enforcing traffic laws on trucks impeding traffic?

They need to fix the Ponchatoula exit onto I-55…
