I don’t understand the step in bathtub for the elderly

I understand the concept, safely stepping into a tub with lower chance of falling. But what I don’t understand, you have to sit there for 10 minutes, freezing to death while waiting for it to fill and drain, if you draw a full tub.
Anyone here have one?
And no, I’m not in the market for one

Or you could take a shower.

Shath, shower bath. Shower sitting down until it fills up.
Yes, its a terrible concept like many things aimed at the elderly.

really grinds my gears

We got one for my pops as he was severely disabled his last few years. It does take probably 5 minutes to fill up. It drains in about 20 seconds. This one is nice, it's like a rocketship with a few different air/water bubble features. My mom kind of needs it now, anyway, as she is slowing down.

That is understandable, but the commercial shows these old people sitting in the tub with water up to their neck. These things look like the hold about 25-35 gallons of water when full.

You ever been to an old person's house? They keep it roasting

This is a good point actually, never thought about them sitting there nekked waiting for it to fill up.

So they have a pump on the drain? Waiting for it to fill isn’t a biggie because you can shower as it fills. If there is some sort of pump to drain it, I see the appeal.

I have no idea. I think it's just gravity, bruh. It's scary how quickly it drains.

There's a reason it's roasting. They're always cold even in the heat. You think they won't be freezing sitting wet and naked in a tub?

It’s an engineering feat in water tight door seals. They’re silent partners with that Flex Seal guy.

A roll in shower stall seems like a better option

We are in our 70's and recently renovated the master bath. The subject came up, but we went with a nice Jacuzzi, we both didn't want our house to look like a nursing home.

Don't know about you, but I'd rather do that than lay in the tub naked untill somebody finds me because I busted my arse and broke my hip or something.

Replacing our house 5 years ago, we looked at steppin tubs and passed. The entry, seat would require stepping and rotating to the seat, tubs dirty water still requires showering off. We built a large deep roll in shower where wife easily transfers to built in seating. no door.

They have inline heaters to keep the water warm.

The older people get the harder it is to get in and out of a conventional tub. Falling too becomes a serious risk.
At 77, I'm not there yet, but I see it coming.
