GOAT.

To the OP, of you like fishing and want to live in a small town on the lake, Farmerville isn't that far from the mall.

But when I say small, I mean small.

The Fish House in North Monroe has some of best fried catfish I’ve ever had in a restaurant.

Monroe has one of the highest crime rates per capita for a city it's size in the country.

From a Monroe native 99% of that crime is south of I-20. Monroe/WM aren’t all that bad and better than many places in LA, MS, AR, & Bama.

No one really lives in the city limits so the numbers aren't really indicative of the truth

There’s some surprisingly good restaurants close to downtown. Go get a barbecue stain on your white t shirt.

For Greek, Athena on 165 is good.

Right next door is the Fieldhouse, which is a college town sports bar type restaurant with good food and drink.

Daq’s and Trios on Forsythe are solid.

Warehouse and Waterfront are both very solid for lunch or dinner

Basil is good Asian cuisine.

Melvyn’s is a great lunch special/burger joint.

Daily Press is first rate for a lunch sandwich or flat bread pizza.

Portico never disappoints.

New place, The Biscuit Company is a kinda hipster joint with really good breakfast type fare.

Leas on Louisville is good. Pies and a sandwich called the Hitch hiker are good.

Miros or Trapps on the river have great decks for hanging out and enjoying some food and drink.

Mohawk is a classic for lunch and right behind it is Geno’s for some good Italian fare.

Magic Grill for a great roast beef poboy and curly fries.

Damn, I’ve made myself hungry!!

Get the mini tacos appetizer. Be prepared for the roof of your mouth to experience the surface temperature of the planet Mercury, but damn.
