Funny anecdote. A while back I caught my son watching a fuzzy/scrambled TV channel at 1 in the morning. I went and turned on the TV in my bedroom to investigate and found out what my son was watching. I filed a lawsuit against the FCC and won.

I went on a kick renting some to watch in tv for nostalgic purpose. I even rented a 90s best of that was 3 hours.

This reminds me of back in college when I worked at Blockbuster. We had an adult section. There was no hardcore stuff but you could get the kinds of movies that would show late night on HBO and Cinemax.
One of the biggest late fee fines I ever saw when ringing up a person was from one of those movies. The guy had the tape for something like 4 months. When I informed him of the fine he tried to claim it wasn't fair to fine him b/c "The sticker on the top of the VHS says Erotic Confessions: Seduction while the sticker on the spine of the tape just says Erotic Confessions so how am I supposed to know I hadn't turned it in on time?" I was really dumbfounded at such a terrible excuse for a fine and was trying to explain that I could reduce the amount but he was going to have to pay something for having it for so long.
My manager saw what was happening and decided to take over for me. He copped attitude with her right off the bat which pissed her off so she told him he was paying the full fine or she was closing out his membership. Then raising her voice so people in the store could hear her said if he didn't like it there was a Hastings right down the road where he could get his porn. His face turned beet red, he dropped some cash on the counter and walked out. I never saw him again. She was always really good about not letting any of us take shite from people who were obviously in the wrong.

Man, me and my buddy ran up a few hundred bucks talking to some of those strippers at about 14-15.
We were at a friend's house alone for the weekend but of course we got caught. I cut yards for a few months to pay that shite off.

I don’t think Cinemax or Showtime have late night porn anymore. I used to enjoy the sofcore stuff. It seemed more intimate and erotic. You can still search for Emanuelle and Hotel Erotica on pornhub. FYI.

Probably so. There were several tapes in that series. It was always kind of gross to restock those ones b/c we had an idea of which customers were renting them and let's just say the average softcore customer in a small town wasn't exactly someone you'd want to imagine naked.
Another amusing Blockbuster memory is how people always sucked at rewinding their tapes. We had 4 or 5 tape rewinders at the front just to speed things along when we'd empty the return bin; once in the morning and once at close. Roughly 50% of the tapes were not rewound on any given day but the tapes that were almost without fail never rewound were the softcore porn tapes. Oddly enough they were also the fastest to rewind. Not b/c they were shorter than most movies but b/c they very rarely were watched more than halfway through.
