Is it too late to join the Navy at 35?

So I’m 35 years old (will turn 36 in August) and have pondered for years about joining the Armed Forces, particularly the Navy. I get I probably waited way too long and I’m way long in the tooth to join the military, but I just wanted to get your opinions on it.
The Navy’s website says you must be between the ages of 17 and 41 to join, so I guess it’s technically not too late. Those of you who have served in the Navy, is it better suited for the young guys, or could an older guy like me fit right in?

How gay are you on a scale from 1 to Richard Simmons?

What are you trying to get out of the navy? Why join now?
Wife, kids?

Seems like you're in on age, but I question your sincerity and resolve. I feel like joining up to serve is a young man's life choice. Yours sounds like a bucket list/midlife crisis scenario.
No intent to offend, just a gut reaction. Maybe by a mid engine 'vette and see how you feel after that.

It just seems like it would be a tough life even at 17, and you’d have to be gung ho to be able to get thru it and bear it even at that age .. at 35, most of us are a little too used to comforts and conveniences and it would be hard to imagine being gung ho enough at 35 to put up with all the military grunt BS.. but to each his/her own .

Since you answered your own question I would say to do it. It’s obviously on your mind. Live your life, don’t regret a thing. Go for it and goodluck.

I never did serve, and sometimes wish I had. I say if you have nothing holding you back such as a family, go for it. I applaud your efforts, sir and admire your ambition. Good luck.

I feel like I want to serve my country and see the world at the same time. I am married (to a woman, no pics) but don’t have any kids.
Maybe it’s a mid-life thing, but is 35 old enough for a mid-life crisis?

I couldn’t image going through basic and tech school with kids half my age doing the same job.

Are you kidding? Military recruitment is so low, they’d probably take you in 10 years. You’ll easily get an exemption. Just like all of the vets that were forced out of the service for refusing to get the Vax, lol. Now the military is BEGGING them to come back.

Would you be trying to enlist or commission?
Are you ok with some 21 year old telling you what to do? That’s one of the main issues I’ve seen with older guys that join.
