Is John Taffer a fraud?

Been watching episodes of bar rescue. Everything the guy does is generic, he yells and screams, and nothing he does is really sustainable. For example, the gourmet meals for a bar. How long does that really last?
Anybody know of one single long term success story of his? Feel like this is all just staged for TV.

Like any other reality show, it's probably 30/70 real to fake.

He did a couple in New Orleans but not sure if they’re still under the same ownership

The survival rate of the Bar Rescue bars is 56% according to the internets.

Yes. He tried to make TJ Quills into a “night club” called “the Annex.” It failed tremendously and reverted back to TJ Quills.

That’s nuts! It’s almost like everything he does is for show, like he’s being filmed or something.

I loved when he'd come unglued like Saban after a bartender put a couple straws in. "You're over serving!"

The show was fun for a few episodes until you realize how staged it is and every episode is really the same.
The “do you want to play pirate or do you want your kids to go to college” line is still the best of the series though.

Pretty much the same as Kitchen Nightmares on a different scale. The improvements are basically bullet points at this point
1. Clean the place more
2. Simplify the menu with fresh ingredients
3. modernize the decor
Rinse and repeat

Is that place still around?

He did a Chalmette bar too. Don’t recall the details.

What else could he do for a show though? I’m sure these restaurants also need more advertising and better bookkeeping but that’s not fun to watch.

TJ’s is TJ’s again. As far as I know, it’s still open.

When they give actual business advice I like it. It's when John and Gordon thought they were therapists or started yelling that I got annoyed.
British Kitchen Nightmares is so damn good because Gordon actually helps the staff learn how to cook.

That’s a little different. He wasn’t turning around a failing establishment. He was helping a successful business reopen after the floods. The owners were apparently already succeeding and knowledgeable prior to the flood so they really needed more help with rebuilding than anything else.

This begs the question, outside of signing up for a reality tv show, are there people a struggling restaurant owner can get to help them turn things around?
Hiring a better book keeper should be the first move for most of these struggling restaurants. At the end of the day, though, most of them seem to suffer from the fact that we just have way too many "eating joints" as my Pops called them.
