Not sure of the price difference compared to AAA but I got the roadside assistance Geico offers for my mom, who is in her late 70s.
I get the same service but haven't used it.
She's used it twice over the past few years for a dead battery and a flat tire. She was very happy to have it. Makes me a lot less worried as well.

Yes?
It was about 13 degrees out, so no I called someone to do it instead.

Check your auto insurance policy. My State Farm policy has roadside assistance coverage.

Spinoff from the flat tire thread. Talking something like AAA. Never had anything like it before. Thinking of trying to get something like that for my older mom, in case I’m out of pocket and not close by.
It is worth every penny for women, especially older women, or older people in general. My parents had it, my mom still does. I have it. I don't cherish the idea of trying to do anything on a vehicle on the side of an interstate at rush hour with cars whizzing by at 80+.
Your AAA coverage also extends to anyone you may be riding with, even if the vehicle doesn't belong to you. My mom was with my aunts eating dinner a couple years ago when they noticed my aunt's Tahoe had a flat in the restaurant parking lot. Mom called AAA and they changed the tire, no charge.

I have it through State Farm. It’s a pain if you’ve locked yourself out of your car and don’t have policy number on hand bc it’s via app request. They sub out so will also reimburse you if you pay out of pocket for a covered cost. Tip: download policy to phone and hope you have phone on you if you lock keys in car.

You hope to never need it but will be so happy you have if it you need to use it
One time in college I had to call AAA because I ran out of gas. They were completely confused when the location I gave them was a gas station. (Pretty sure it was at Nicholson/Gardere). I had rolled in on fumes, but the station had lost power or something and couldn’t pump gas.
ETA: Actually it was probably Burbank and Bluebonnet. I remember there was another station across the street and both were out of commission.

Check with your insurer. I know USAA has it included in their coverage

I had on star with my Chevy truck and loved it. Locked my keys in my truck in Grand Tetons, and they unlocked it. I paid a few extra bucks for the navigation….would call , answered by a real person, and I always asked for directions anywhere "without interstates" …I like to see the backroads and small towns, eat in mom and pop diners, and only hop on interstates when in a hurry..
I now have a Toyota (no onstar ) and that is almost a dealbreaker for me. So now I have AAA, but you need a cell signal (on star was satellite). It is not very expensive, and gives peace of mind for a female without family (rescue) within 2000 miles.

This thread has me considering a AAA membership. Mainly for my daughter would just started a job with a long commute.
My wife’s MDX doesn’t have a spare tire. How would AAA assist in her case if she had a blowout?

They'd tow the car to a tire shop
