Is there a better business model than Great Value/Equate brand?

Seems like an easy job. Zero innovation required. Copy a product, alter one ingredient, alter the name slightly, sell for cheaper and profit.

In most cases, these products are made at the same factory that makes the name brand products

well they also have a guaranteed distribution network

I won’t ever eat an off brand Oreo. I don’t care how cheap it is. They’ve got me. Sneaky delicious bastards.

Equate OTC drugs are a big money saver.

A lot of the equate/great value stuff is made by the same company that makes the name brand stuff. Check the label, next time. Deals to be had.

Comes from the same company as the name brand, on the same day, on the same truck.

I get the Great Value stuff for most things.. Toilet paper and paper towels are a no go.. Strawberry preserves a no go also. Shaving cream let me down, I was able to get about 4 uses and the pressure ran out.. Pissed me off.. I had to shave with soap and got razor burn.
Nasal spray is great... for a $1.83 versus $8+ is a no brainer.. Their version of Crystal light is not bad but a little weaker.. The Splenda version is a great deal..

Don't have to tell me twice. I buy everything great value including gas. I'm as cheap as they come

Friend,
What a great thread. Let us not forget to mention the Holiday Time brand exterior Christmas lights. Every bit as good as GE for 40% less. GV smoked oysters on GV saltines washed down with freshly opened DDT is a chef’s meal. Splendid!

Great value ultra strong paper towels are great
You have to get the ultra strong & not the everyday strong

I usually opt for the private label when there's savings to be had.
But I also wont touch fake Oreos. Pop Tarts is another one I will only buy name brand. I dont eat either often so on the rare occasion I'll splurge for the real deal.

Some GV products are good some aren’t. GV bread is full of air.

Most of the store brand stuff is the exact same as name-brand. Why have two different manufacturing lines for essentially the same product?

I don't remember which ones I purchased but it was like using paper napkins.. Pretty cheap. I'll take a look the next time at your suggestion..
Tulane/Lsu mentioned the GV saltines.. They are pretty good considering they are a lot cheaper than Nabisco.. Nabisco has lost their mind with their price.. it's a freakin soda cracker..

I’m brand specific on drinks, bread, mayo & ketchup
