Italian vs. Sicilian

For those of you of the OT who have Italian or Sicilian heritage, my question for y’all is what are the main differences between the two? If you have Sicilian heritage, do you take offense if someone assumes you’re Italian? How different is the food? How different is the culture? Italians and Sicilians, speak up!
Also, I know I could easily google all of this, I just want to hear from y’all instead.

In America, Sicilians put sugar in their red gravy. Italians leave it tangy.

My lineage is northern Italy (Livorna, Tuscany region). It's like how Eastbanker feel about the Westbank. Sicily= Mob

A lot of Sicilians immigrated to Louisiana in the late 19th/early 20th century.

My wife's Sicilian side down in Morgan City always call themselves Italian, but if you call them Italian then they correct you and claim Sicilian. Seems they are confused.

We are Sicilian on my fathers side. Culturally similar to Southern Italians. Similar food and customs

Somehow, I’m not surprised by this.

Sicily was invaded by Arabs and North Africans in the early Middle Ages, so they tend to have darker skin than mainland Italians.

Sicily’s Pizza had a dessert bar, as I recall.
It’s been at least pre-K* since I was a patron of one.

When i was young we use to bury Italians 10 feet under. Why 10 feet? cause we weren't finished laughing at 6.
