Jury finds tech company was discriminating against non-Indian workers and abusing H1B visa

A company that supplies thousands of workers for Silicon Valley’s technology industry and other Bay Area employers intentionally discriminated against non-Indian workers, a jury has found.
Their leadership team, 75% Indian: LINK
To the surprise of absolutely no one. It's not just this company, Cognizant, that does this. Pretty much every company that hires for tech related roles does this these days. My last job in the Dallas area, 100% of the IT and Data Engineering departments were Indian. Not 95%, but 100%.
My mom works for a major bank and she said they only hire Indians these days. I went to pick her up for lunch one day and saw nothing but Indians. My mom said the only non-Indians who work there were those who were hired 15+ years ago(my mom has been there since 1999).
Indians get into mananger/director/C-suite roles then only hire Indians, specifically Indians from their own caste/village in India, until entire departments become majority or almost exclusively Indian. The toughest job interviews I have ever had have all been when I interviewed with an Indian. By design so they can disqualify me and everyone else so they can say there are no qualified Americans to hire so we must hire H1B Indians.
It's a real problem, but it won't stop Republicans from saying we need to massively increase legal immigration and import skilled workers from other countries, because for whatever reason they believe we have a labor shortage of skilled workers in tech/healthcare industries(we dont).

H1B Visas should be abolished. The sole purpose of them is to suppress American wages.

They must save a boatload on salary too by doing that.

as someone in IT. the last company I want to work for is a company full of H1B’s.

They do this in a lot of sectors.

It's a tough situation...
If I bid domestic, W-2, fully-benefited employees for your project @$100 per hr, and Cognizant bids 1099 Indian contractors @ $50 per hour, which proposal is your company going to select?
(Assuming roughly equal capabilities and past performance)

This line is stated during the border debate to counteract the shrieking of racism from progressives.
This line is also repeated by very powerful/rich businesses owners to keep costs down, regardless of political leanings.
It needs to be fixed, we really should be more selective and exclusive in immigration.

Suburbs North of Dallas?
There are supposedly newer neighborhoods up in the Frisco in McKinney area that are entirely Indian.
If you go to a discount store anywhere north of Dallas, you’ll feel like you’ve taken a Trip to Mumbai.

Indians love hiring other Indians.

Immigration is great if it's legal!
What a stupid sentiment.

i just have a hard time believing this is reality, based on my experiences w/H1B’s. Most of them are only good for grunt work.

It’s incredible that white collar voters whether republicans or democrat don’t understand this scam and how it harms domestic workers.

Yep. H1B’s were designed to supplement the labor market.
Now it’s costing qualified Americans a job because companies don’t want to pay American wages. I’m all for free market but it’s beyond that when you’re importing foreign labor and abusing the system. Tons of American tech workers are losing their jobs.

This is every tech company. Indian managers only hire other Indians.

Yep, the lone white woman among the leadership team happens to be the head of HR. No doubt she brags to all her liberal friends on social media about how diverse her company is.
Like my last job where 100% of the IT department was Indian... I bet head of HR there did the same thing too, bragged about how diverse the IT department was.

They do! I was laid off at my last job and forced to train my Indian replacement otherwise I wouldn't have had my bonus and 10 weeks of severance pay paid out.
I was told that my Indian replacement was being paid a quarter of what I was being paid.

I've posted about this in another thread a couple of weeks ago.
My son is a electrician that work for a large electrical contracting company. The company has a job in the Huntsville AL area that they were having trouble staffing so they brought in a couple of dozen electricians from Honduras under some type of visa program. These Hondurans were supposed to be minimum journeyman electricians. My son says these guys were beasts when it came to running conduit, but their wiring skills sucked. The company had to send an American crew to Huntsville to check and rewire a lot of the Honduran work. They knew very little about American electrical code and best practices.

Yeah it was in the Coppell-Valley Ranch area. My mom who also works in the area calls it New New Dehli.

100% my experience and this is the problem. Those who make these decisions aren't actually the ones participating in doing the work. They are brainwashed and sold on lies that these H1B candidates are excellent superb qualified prospects who are just as good if not better as American workers and its just not true.
They are OK at doing grunt work like you said, menial repetitive tasks but anything that requires outside of the box thinking, communication skills, people skills or adaptability when things go off script, they become utterly useless.
