Couldn't tell who it was the first time it happened at 330am a few days ago. Tonight, the dumbasses were still outside and tried to lie before admitting it.
One is 10 and the other is a little older. We sufficiently told them how stupid it was to do that and how they could get hurt and to stay off our property.
Would you tell the parents? Or is this worthy of a "kid acts dumb and hopefully learns from it" type situation?
I'm just pissed that I can't fall back asleep.

If you caught them and put the scare into them, they won’t try it again. At least not to your place.

We don't live in a HOA neighborhood. It is semi-rural, bigger lots. I wasn't kidding when I told them that they could get hurt doing it.
They didn't act like assholes once they came clean. "Yes, sir" and all that.

The parents need to know their kids are outside at 3:30am. That alone is worth the discussion.

Let them knock again next time and just blast them. Just claim you were standing your ground and you should be good

Put flaming poop on their porch. Only fair

As a parent, I would want to know if my kid where out then. For maximum results though you should have the kids call their parents at the time it happened, not the next morning when it can be denied.

Sadly, this is the truth.

You don't know where your ten year old is at night?

What? No. We've all done it and it's harmless. OP would do better if he simply tacked a note on his door saying "I know who you are, Kids".

Don't bring logic into this.
The doorbell ringing at 3 am is terrifying and also is something you must go open the door for.
Otherwise, you would be in danger if you didn't open the door.
