Lafayette Hooters Closed?

I saw this on Facebook from KLFY.
quote:
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – After 25 years in business, the Hooters location in Lafayette has unexpectedly shutdown. According to multiple online news sources and social media accounts, the front door of the Ambassador Caffery restaurant greeted customers with a sign simply saying, “Hooters is closed. Thank you Lafayette for a great 25 years.” With no prior announcement to patrons or employees, the reasons behind the closure leave many people wondering.
quote:
Former Hooters employee Gracie Courville says it came as a shock to everyone who worked there. “I got the call from my manager this morning. He had said, hooters has closed down and we all had no idea,” said Courville.
quote:
She says it’s heartbreaking to know everyone who worked there is now looking for another job, or will have to file unemployment due to them not being given a heads up. Courville describes the closing as extremely disappointing. “You know, there’s people here that have children, that have been here for over ten years and it’s just really disappointing,” said Courville. “And with such a short notice, you know, it’s it’s really heartbreaking and disappointing and especially as a company to tonight let us know, you know, prior and our managers, even not even knowing, it’s it’s really disappointing.”” With signs on its front door saying “Hooters is closed. Thank you Lafayette for a great 25 years,” not only comes as a shock to its employees, but also the community. “I think the whole community is shook as well because, you know, usually I feel like when a place closes down, there might be prior acknowledgment about it. But with this place, it was just like that,” Courville explained.

1) Location got stale. Needed to move south toward the Costco area years ago where all the new restaurants are now opening.
2) Anywhere too close to a Walmart eventually turns to shite.
3) Concept doesn't fit with todays progressively woke society

"He had said" - paints a real clear picture.

A single mom who’s been a Hooters waitress for over 10 years prob needs to move on anyways.

Meh chain sit-down restaurants generally suck these days

I actually like that location.
A lot of windows, good setup.
Hooters as a whole is a poorly run (corporate) business.

Idk man. Lafayette loves its chain restaurants. I think location was the biggest factor here. I wouldn’t be shocked if they reopen somewhere else.

They used to show wrestling ppvs there and have wrestlers come in to sign autographs. I watched Wrestlemania 17 there. The Rock and some other big attitude era stars did autograph signings there.
Also I had my birthday party there one year in the late 80s when it was Showbiz Pizza.

That entire area was given tax subsidies too, worst government policy decision ever by LCG. The decline of other parts of town are a direct result. The Durel legacy is starting to look not so nice.

It's still a relatively wealthy area (according to statiscal maps) and on a road that gets 50k cars a day. They're building an Aldi right there and some other new developments.

It isn't the location. It's right next to a busy bowling alley, in a wealthy zip code (for Louisiana standards at least), and on a busy road.
Management was notoriously bad there (guy was an incompetant cheesedick who got that job because he knew someone) and breastaurants aren't a viable business model these days.

I got a kick out of all of the women on Facebook virtue signaling yesterday about how happy they were that a place that exploited women's bodies was closing...
The same facebook whores that constantly post pics of themselves working out or in bikinis. Some are realtors who dress like sluts daily to sell houses.
What a time to be alive.

I went there once. The crowd was as trashy as I have seen anywhere. Waitresses looked the same. Never went back. Lafayette isn't missing out.

Honestly, there weren't too many "Hooters" to talk about anyways. The girls that were blessed in that department and wanted to work in that industry are at Twin Peaks.
