No you are not. That already happened when Russia had a break through in the Kursk region and took back 99% of the territory. You conveniently disappeared when that happened. You are on par with doubleb and the amount of dishonesty that spews from that bacteria filled small muzzle of yours. You better start to pray for forgiveness for the lies you spew

I didn't disappear, I have been participating in this thread for far longer than you. How long did it take Russia to retake a small piece of their own country, 9 or 10 months? What an awesome display of military might...lol, they even had to beg the NK's to come help them.

Speaking of people who should keep their small muzzle shut....

I think the comparisons to Vietnam are misguided.
The comparison to Vietnam is soley based on the wars themselves. Will Rusdia continue to pour more men and treasure into a war thst is yielding such a little result?
Russia fought the Germans for three years plus in WWII. If the Ukraine war is not over this year, it will surpass WWII as far as Russia is concerned.
It’s not a question as to whether Russia can continue on, it becomes a question as to what will they “win” compare to what they will “spend”.

The last couple of decades has been an embarrassment for American history. It just keeps getting worse.

Russia has also historically fought attritional style warfare.....this is very much an attritional war at this point
You can't pretend that this was his preferred outcome, or that this was by design in any way. The only way to fight a modern war is to do what he planned to do in Feb of 2022: Attack with overwhelming force from multiple vectors, airborne assaults on the airport, capture the capital, overthrow the government, and be done in a month.
Anything less than that is a loss. A 3-4 year attritional artillery and drone duel with 1 million casualties isn't a loss. It's a complete catastrophe. One that's playing out in real time.
quote:
how much of the war being an attritional war is because Russia can't do much of anything else, vs how much of it is because it is actually what they want to do?
100% the first and 0% the second. Russia is out of mechanized equipment. And even if it could summon a few thousand tanks and APCs to make a big push to break out, they would be scrap metal in a matter of days. Russia is firing as much artillery as it can get its hands on, and sending meat waves as soon as new recruits come to the front. This is no one's idea of the way to fight a war. This is literally all they have left to work with.
quote:
I also think the "He can't stop or blah blah blah will happen" takes are off base.
Study the political and economic effects of demobilization over history. Almost no political or economic system survives it. Huge upheaval is the absolute norm.
The only real exception is the US post WW2. And that is because we had to continue to produce food and manufactured goods at a high rate because Europe and Asia were both in ruins. We were the only manufacturing base left in the world. So it was actually the 1970s before we had to face the reality of Europe and Japan and Korea and China coming back online. And what happened that decade? Total political and economic upheaval that nearly toppled the nation.
Russsia will not survive its step down from a war economy. The rest of the world has already left it in the dust. All it has is war and hydrocarbons.
