Let’s talk graduation ceremony etiquette

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I did not see a post.
Had to attend a college graduation ceremony recently. It seems to me some of the celebrations have gotten ridiculous. I am not downplaying the accomplishment and certainly understand a quick cheer when “your graduate” is called. But some of these went on way too long and included air horns. The overdone celebration drowns out the next three graduates names called.
I know… “ok boomer”, “get off my lawn”, “sorry you didn’t get to hear Braxton’s name called”. It seemed overdone and disrespectful to other graduates and families. Just wondering if others experiences were similar or if this university was trashy.

Dancing around who you’re really talking about eh?

Who cares. Big college graduations make you want to blow your brains out. Unbelievably long.

Celebrate and beam with pride respectfully to others who want to do the same.
Common sense. Problem solved.

That's been ongoing for decades sir...

I love attending an LSU graduation solely due to the range of outfits people wear. You've got sports coats all the way down to a t-shirt and jeans .

As a high school senior teacher, I have no clue why kids don’t want to walk for graduation. This year I had a few that are choosing not to. It’s just a celebration of you accomplishing something for your family and friends to be proud of you.
The kids that are “too cool” for it are usually pretty miserable kids

I think this is kind of a "rural parish" high school graduation activity that has bled over into the college realm and done by people who don't know better.

These are some of the first post mask graduations, I would expect the reactions to be more exaggerated. Now what is ridiculous was the 5th grade graduation... seriously people were screaming like their kids got drafted or some shite.

Attend a high school graduation and you will hear a level of hollering and screaming that will drown out the names of the next 7 grads.

Are you suggesting it’s just one certain specific sort of people?

The university is a meme at this point so this type of performance at graduation is the result.

There is no sense of decorum anymore at any function. Graduation, weddings, funerals, you name it. Most people seem to have dismissed any sense of respectful behavior and dress. It’s as if they hold anything deserving of respect in contempt and will go out of their way to deride it.
It is disgusting. And sad.

You're surprised that an immature society is doing immature things in public?
