Don’t apply for the measly $20 if you are going to cancel DirecTV in the next couple of months.

You’d probably be better off calling and threatening to cancel. DirecTV will most likely lower your bill considerably, at least more than $20 per month.

A $20 credit only if you maintain an active account until credit is applied.

"To get the credit you must remain an active customer. The credit will be applied within two billing cycles." This is a bribe not to cancel the service completely.

You have to request it to get it?

Call, bitch, get discounts.

Then go and click the link. Get additional discount.

Dropping Directv during hurricane season typically not the best move if you can figure out a way around it. Once Hurricane season is in the clear then drop away.

A one time $20 credit?

I called the cancel and they knocked by bill down $70/month

Ask for the "loyalty offer"

We were going to switch to YTTV but like the convenience of DTV so willing to spend a little more.

I cancelled mine and they offered a rebate. Still cancelled. No ESPN channels. No me.

Signed up with Fubo

Maybe so, but in my area internet is typically out until power is restored. Directv satellite service basically only goes out during very severe weather, and now just switches to streaming until it passes. Either way, during long power outages Directv satellite has definitely done well for me.

What was your bill before and what is it now? I might give them a call. I’m upset about all this BS.

Well at least they're doing something. YYTV will just raise their prices.

The underground fiber you speak of virtually has nothing to do with your internet unless it gets cut or something, fyi. All those wires are linked back to “the big box”. Those boxes are ancient, filled with pests, dirt, mud, dust, etc. Those big boxes are also linked to a local hub.

Losing internet rarely has anything to do with it being underground. I used to work for Uverse

Yes on hurricanes

I’ve been through at least 4 close to the eye and have only lost signal for 2 hours max each time

Literally watching TV w the wind gusts at 100+ mph

The other advantage over stream is changing channels at will, not scrolling through 100+ channels every time I want to switch or browse

I also need Space City for Astros But I won’t be able to make it long without ESPN for CFB and NCAA baseball. They better figure it out soon
