Has anyone looked at it for your parish? Are the salaries accurate?

All the teachers and admin my children have had have shockingly reasonable salaries IMO, especially since their education is actually good

Most parishes you can find the salary schedule online. A lot of fluff goes into that as you have Master Teachers, Curriculum Coordinators, etc who are listed as "teachers" but make 5-25k more than a typical teacher with similar experience.

Ascension starts at 50,533 but a 10 year teacher makes 56,198, and a 20 year teacher makes 61,808.

As spending went up in Education, an explosion of these jobs occurred. Also, performance didn’t change a bit. Coincidence?

Some of that was fueled by federal mandates, particularly around "special needs." The more special needs kids you have (can be behavioral problems, paraplegics, dyslexic kids, etc.) the more funding supplements you get from FedGov. That however came with strings attached, such as requiring x number of in class aides per yy special needs students, and then a special needs plan coordinator (or three), etc.

Holy shite, did you see that one woman is apparently paid $200k EACH by four different entities??
quote:

Johnson Tara Lampton 200000.0000 Einstein Charter School at Village De L'Est
Johnson Tara Lampton 200000.0000 Sarah Towles Reed High School
Johnson Tara Lampton 200000.0000 Einstein Charter Middle Sch at Sarah Towles Reed
Johnson Tara Lampton 200000.0000 Einstein Charter at Sherwood Forest

ETA: It's entirely possible she's only being paid 200k once, and all four are reporting it, as the number is strangely round and consistent. But still, someone should have known (namely Ms. Johnson) how this was going to appear.

Teaching is the hardest job in the world, how dare you question the compensation of an education hero

Quick google search shows, she's a consultant. So...that's probably 4 individual times at $200k a pop. This is why the Department of Education has to die.

They took the best teachers and put them in these positions. The idea is they spread their best practices but instead they are forced to push whatever program the central office or state has bought.

They didn't, they really took mediocre teachers who knew the right people and were well liked and put them in these positions. So instead of helping to train new teachers they are only teaching bad habits.

Four out of this list of the top salaries appear to be Charter schools, and that's your takeaway? Typical.

Now look at salaries over 200k. People are getting more to run 1 charter school than Superintendents with 50 schools. The Impact charter school lady was getting 211k and then allegedly mis managing money so bad that the state came in and replaced their entire management.

21/41 Salaries over 200k are in charter schools. About 15% of students in Louisiana attend charter schools.

Oh yes, those head admins that are public schools in each parish are earning those $200-$400k salaries, while supported by massive armies of support staff in the parish, multiple VPs at each school, etc. And for all the success that those parishes demonstrate in basic education!

35 charter leaders made more than the superintendent of the highest performing district the state.

The Lafayette Parish Superintendent makes over $400,000 and teachers make 10 times less. Wow.
