It's overblown on this site. Plenty of us do well here, and I'm no Louisiana cheerleader.

I moved back after 15 years or so. Lots of things I love BUT…

Main thing is that opportunities for kids and young adults are limited. Outside of small rural school districts the school system is a disaster. Political climate is terrible and there are fewer and fewer taxpayers supporting a poor and uneducated demographic.

If you make good money, there is plenty to enjoy here. Get drive through crawfish whenever I want, saw Chris Stapleton and Wayne Toups at JazzFest today. Can go watch an LSU baseball game tomorrow if I feel like it.

Yes. In fact it’s so bad I moved to Mississippi for a better life. And it has been 100% worth it.

Left Baton Rouge for Southwest Mississippi. I don’t know if it’s better for everyone but I am happier here than back at home, and it’s not even close.

There’s a disproportionate amount of shitty, entitled, lazy, leach, pieces of shite that live here.

It’s both hot as frick and humid as frick

Mosquitos

We are a state run by democrats and welfare queens

The roads are 50th in the country

Our education is the worst in the country

We have the most corrupt politicians

We are one of the least free states with gambling, marijuana, etc

The amount of motherfrickers that call 911 for a free ambulance ride to the ER just so that they can get free drugs is fricking astounding

We have an incredibly dumb population on average

Top 3 in obesity

It seems like everyone always champions our outdoor life and sporting opportunities, but in reality we have well below average deer and the ducks don’t make it down here. The fishing is a cut above, have to give Louisiana that, but it’s still not on Florida’s level for instance.

But, we do have amazing food and everyone loves Mardi Gras so there’s that.

Forgot to mention the litter. There is litter fricking everywhere, which further emphasises how dumb the people are in our state

We are lucky. And the state does very little to protect or advance our fisheries.

I agree with all of this. People always love to talk about the positives, but 9.9 times out of 10 the negatives outweigh them. If you grew up here it’s good to visit every once in a while but you will enjoy life a lot more if you leave.

It's like Mississippi - but just like a tiny bit better. We're 49th in everything. I guess the silver lining is at least we're not 50th.
