Had the pleasure of working for a period of time in Liverpool when I was younger. My office was in the Royal Liver Building. Loved the town. Great people there. Next time I am there I will look this place up!

We've been slightly helpful in getting Slap Ya Mama in the UK, and will be cross-branding with them.

Make sure you put a bunch of Cajun French words and phrases on the menu just to see the confusion of the French speaking Brits.

I think this is a huge mistake that people opening restaurants make.

Just focus on making 1 a success.

We're not going overboard and rushing into anything without perfecting our concept and delivery, but growth is a goal.

Brits love America/American food.

Fun fact: More Nashville clucks (hot chicken sandwich place) were delivered on ubereats last year than McDonald's hamburger in Liverpool.

All the Brits I know will happily say, 'Let's go have a curry." When I ask them what kind of curry, they look at me as if I asked them to fly.
They know a curry, and that's what they want. They don't want to be confused with regional nuances.

These are mostly folks who live near Chester.

Good luck, and sometime eat an Onion Bajhi.

My best friends brother opened a louisiana style restaurant in Thailand. Used home recipes and made a killing. Just sold restaurants with his recipes and royalties

Wish you best of luck

Cool

In my travels in Europe most people were familiar with New Orleans ("Jazz") at least somewhat, but a surprising number of people were not at all.

I know its a small city globally but its pretty famous and a popular tourist destination. But yeah, a lot of people are not even going to be remotely familiar with even the concept of the cuisine, which is why I said it may be a tough sell

Open one in Nottingham and I’ll try it. My daughter lives there. I have a house in The Peak District town of Litton, so not too far from Liverpool. My SIL is a Liverpool fan, and we’re starting to plan a trip there. I’d love to try your restaurant. Good luck!

Good luck! Very interesting story. You have been a good resource for TD members, I’ll be rooting for you.

I’ve been to Liverpool twice, not sure I would be going back any time soon but would definitely go out of my way to visit your place.

You're not wrong.
A chick I went to LSU with is a marketer out of Charlotte, and has brought Southern Comfort along with Sazerac to the UK, and she has pounded in our heads that we are going to have to "edutain" (educate/entertain) people, which shouldn't be too large a mountain.

We went over, did a TON of market research, and asked literally over 500 people what they think of when we say "new orleans"/"louisiana".
Some said jazz.
Some said chicken/ribs.
Some said steak.
One or two said Mardi Gras.
Most said "America".

We asked dozens of people that question, as they were standing in an "outside the door" line at Popeyes in Liverpool Centre (think French Quarter). None of them corellated Popeyes with LA/NOLA, even though it clearly stated, on the sign, "Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen".
