LSU baseball camp (or any other school)

Anybody recommend LSU’s baseball camp in the summer for kiddos? Or any other school?
I’m in TX, and was just wondering if it’s a waste of time, kids had fun, do the kids learn, etc?
Just looking for a way to get the kids moving and having fun and wanted to get some thoughts from people who have done it or something similar.

I went to LSU and ULL camps growing up. They were always fun and I enjoyed going but I wouldn't really say I learned much from them. You'd get way more learning by sending them to a 1 hour lesson with a private instructor. But if it's just to send them to a summer camp they would enjoy it.

My kids went.. they had fun but I’m not sure I’d pay to be a lodger from out of town.. unless staying with friends or family.
The new season length, summer er leagues and probably the portal have changed the experience.. my oldest who’s 18 now had some great players and coaches from different schools.. that doesn’t seem to be the case as much these days

ATTN all old guys!
Who remembers the "kids baseball clinic" that LSU would hold every year maybe right before HS season started?

I went a few times in the mid / late 80’s and it was awesome! Learned a lot and had a ton of fun. With that being said, it was the 80’s and everything was awesome especially with the teams we had back then. Really cool hanging / learning skills with the players and coaches. Have no idea if it is like that anymore.

This. It’s a summer day camp with a baseball theme. It really isn’t an instructional type experience.

My son had fun at LSU's camp. Didn't learn a thing. Saw the facilities and met a few players. If you don't mind spending the money it's a cool experience but don't expect your kid to learn anything.
He also did the Rice camp in Houston. Same outcome.

Was it an overnight camp? If so I would bet they picked up a lot of small things that have not manifested themselves as of yet. Just the idea of being around the game in an away from home setting can make a huge impact on what they are able to absorb.
I went to an LSU basketball camp summer before high school and while I didnt really learn any new, specific skills, just practicing the ones I had for a week in
a controlled environment made a world of difference. Not saying you are technically wrong here, but in context, they probably learned a lot more than you think.

LSU camp is 100% fun. They can learn, but it’s more about giving the kids the experience being out there.

It’s cool if you want your kid to hang out and play on lsu facilities
For better instruction though I would go to traction or elsewhere

Does your local HS have a baseball camp? My son goes every year to our local HS baseball camp and loves it because a lot of his friends are there too

If your kid is into baseball, send him to the HS coach's camp evey year. That way the coach can recognize him and if he has an off day at tryouts, the coach may still pick him up based off of past performances.

Man I’ll tell you what. Mississippi State does a father/son overnight camp that’s awesome! You bring a tent and set it up in the indoor facilities to sleep in. The dads have to do everything the kids do including home run derby, timed base running, pitching velocity, drills, everything.
