I’m on a chainsaw crew in Oregon for the Summer, possibly longer, and needed to mark my gear.

Rattle cans, masking tape and some decals from eBay.

Before:

After:

Stihl MS201TC - climbing saw
Stihl MS362 - buck saw

Hot today ‘round these parts.
Doesn’t matter, had snow.

Eh, I left a 17 year hazmat career for more freedom and overall quality of life.

I’ve been on a saw for four seasons now at 47 years old.

I’m not sure how many of the younger generations would understand my choices.

No fire work.
Residential only, for the most part.

We do have a contract with the National Park Service to remove dead wood that is in the immediate area(s) of certain campsites.

We fell those in place and just leave the tree up on the hill though. Way easier than processing entire trees in someone’s back yard.

Amazon. The orange flavor is the cheapest so that’s the one I bought and painted.

Had two uncles used to do that as a side gig. Watched than take out some big pines in our yard. Serious work up there on.

It is most definitely an art of utmost control. Every single cut with purpose and intent. The physics and mechanics of rope climbing and rigging. It is a sight to see.

We often get lawn chair spectators. In Louisiana, they’ve even rolled out their ice chests, popped the tops on some cold adult beverages and took photos and videos of only God knows what while I was in the sky.

Thanks. It was a wacky idea. I’ve painted some model airplanes but nothing like this before.

Pretty sweet man, I'll be 47 this year and there's no way I could be climbing trees and chopping them down.
