Police believe that the three people killed in Metairie Tuesday had no connection to the killer who shot them dead, according to sources with knowledge of the investigation.

One person was found shot to death early Tuesday morning along West Metairie Avenue at Henry Landry Avenue.

The same afternoon two more people were found shot dead in a car on West Metairie Avenue near North Upland Street.

SWAT officers arrested a suspect Tuesday evening.

Sheriff Joe Lopinto announced that evidence linked all three killings to the suspect.

The victims, sources say, appear to have been selected at random.

Lopinto has called an afternoon news conference.
