School cracked down on us in the early 90s, we couldn't call each other that without punishment.

The problem is the sad condition. But we must have some acceptable term for discussing this situation so that people can work through it. I do not have a preference for what term is used, but as a person who had to provide care for others, I know that we cannot pretend that it does not exist. Set a word and then use it maturely.
