META is building the AI data center in Holly Ridge, Louisiana.

The proposed data center, which requires regulatory approval, is expected to employ between 300 and 500 people with an average salary of $82,000. This is a significant boost for the local economy and a testament to Louisiana's efforts to attract major technology companies.

Imagine getting a good-paying job working in a data center for Meta which has data centers all over and they transfer you to NELA.

What a random place to put this but that should do wonders for that area. Why didn’t this area industrialize more?

Oh boy. That is one poor area

Rumor is that’s why all of the solar farms are popping up N of I-20. Good economic win for NELA

Cheap land and probably cheap energy. But no local labor pool and not many people will want to live there for $82k.

Gov Landry's tax plan already working!

I'm not sure about the solar farms, but Entergy is investing billions to integrate and prep that area for this data center.
ETA: Rumor is that there will be 1200MW of generation in that area. If they do that, they will need massive transmission upgrades. This will be a great project for that area.

Commute from Monroe isn’t bad.
It’s pretty good money in Monroe.
I’m pretty sure it isn’t the data center that will employ the 300 to 500 people at that salary. I think it’s the Entergy plant to power the data center

That is for show/ESG purposes.
Haynesville is going to be feeding these centers.
Elon is also looking at land in the area.

Same here, and I'm familiar with a lot of unknown places in LA due to my job. Is Holly Springs even incorporated?
But being stuck between Rayville and Delhi is.....rough.

I guess the closest "bigger type" city you could live in is Winnsboro or Monroe. But at least Holly Ridge is 30 minutes from the best ice cream in the world (Mer Rouge).

There are energy projects in the works all over Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Arky that are tied into or somehow involved in this one facility. I believe they'll be running generator, solar and dedicated power from a proposed Entergy natural gas plant that will be nearby.

It's a 30 minute commute from Monroe on interstate
I don't know why people are acting like you would be forced to live in Holly Ridge if you worked at the center

It is sort of prophetic actually. There are plenty of thriving, populated places in this country that were once cornfields, swamp or desert. The US of the 22nd century will have places on the map we’ve never heard of.
North Louisiana (where I am from) has something industry wants: lots and lots of cheap land.

Entergy is building a brand new natural gas power station in Greenville, Ms. First one to be built from ground up in 50 years

Solar farms are not much of an economic win for anyone but the land owner and solar company. They create basically zero permanent jobs.

this a different one than the four page thread from a few days ago ?

They’re going to have their own power plant?
