certain pockets are fine (old metairie, lakeview, north of Veterans 70002/70005). All in all its a safe place to live, but you still need to travel to find things to do and good places to eat.

The west part of Metairie is kind of a wasteland. All in all its a typical outdated suburb thats still a good place to raise a family

Old Metairie, especially around the country club could indeed be considered a crown jewel of the state.
And the area from Veterans to the lake on the eastern side of Metairie has transformed a lot in the last 10 years. Lately the trend of the million dollar plus houses being built along the lake is refreshing.
Former Saints player has had one under construction for like 16 months now. It's insane.
And another nice one is going up right next to it.

I feel the same about Orleans Parish...

If I didn't work in the city, I wouldn't cross the parish line, and I usually keep my tax dollars in JP.

He said Metairie. Not “Old Metairie”.

Big Lee resided in Old Metairie.

I like Metairie OK - lived there during law school.

I expect Houma Blvd. near W. Napoleon has really gone downhill since then.

Metarie isn’t too bad but there’s no way I’d live there.

Louisiana has no “Crown jewel.”

Why does there have to be "recent development?"

Probably because you couldn't afford to live in the good parts.

The Metairie CBD with all those 1960s office towers on North Causeway is a sight to behold.
