Chief of Staff was always the top medical director of a hospital/clinic overseeing all medical staff etc. Now it's a made-up position at corporations and becoming more widely used.
VP of People Operations? No, you're HR mmmkay.
What's some other new-age titles?

VP of People Operations, Acquisition, and Inclusion is one I chuckled at the other day.

Public school Disciplinarians are now called Administrative Services Assistants. How stupid.

I remember reading an article a few years back that people were going to their supervisors for a new, important title and never requested more money. I guess they wanted it to put on their resume or something.

Chief of staff seems like someone who basically does the CEOs day to day job so they can focus on their public brand. I think there is a good bit of ego associated with an executive creating the CoS position. I wonder what the career trajectory is for someone in that role.

Seemingly all of the startups in my field have a Chief of Staff. Usually paid quite well and they are workhorses for the executive team.

Head of HR is often called "Chief People Officer" or "Chief People Person" these days to try and take the stink off of an "HR" title.
It's just HR.
It's just HR.

Sustainment Leader/VP of Sustainment. Sustainment is already a part of every leadership position.
